Mainstream western culture underestimates the POWER of Breath!  Life is dependent upon breath.  Respiration is considered as the most important function of the body as all of the other functions and systems of the body depend upon it.  It’s the process by which oxygen enters the bloodstream.  Our bloodstream then “feeds” many of the systems of the body.  Our respiration also drives the response of our nervous system.

Yet breathing is the most undervalued tool we use for health and freedom from disease.

"You begin by breath control, by breathing to certain paces, and the breath is very curious … The notion is that emotion and feeling and state of mind are related to breath. When you are at rest, the breathing is in a nice, even order. When you are stirred with shock, the breathing changes. With passion the breathing changes. Change the breathing, and you change the state." – Joseph Campbell

In this training, we hope to awaken your mind and body to the power of breath.  Our program is specifically designed for professionals and practitioners who want to learn the science of breathing. This curriculum will empower participants to understand, instruct and execute a basic, intermediate and advanced pranayama practice for yourself and/or your clients.

You Will Walk Away With:

  1. Detailed skilled instruction on foundational pranayama breath techniques
  2. Modern scientific research on the benefits and precautions of each technique
  3. Applications for use in yoga & fitness, weight loss, psychotherapy, healthcare, physical therapy, life coaching
  4. How prana (breath energy) affects the various systems of the body.
  5. The latest in brain science and role of the mind in overall well-being.
  6. Understanding of the nadis (energy channels)
  7. Familiarity with cross-patterning yoga, a tool for accessing the body’s natural DNA/RNA molecular structure.

The Breathing (Pranayama) Techniques

  1. 3-part Breath (Dirgha): foundational breathing, relaxing, energizing and balancing
  2. Ujjay (ocean sounding breath): basic breath to create stillness in the mind, create heat in throat, oxygenates the blood, calms nervous system
  3. Kumbhaka (breath retentions): inspiratory & expiratory muscle training
  4. Agni Sara (Fire Wash): creates internal heat to activate digestive fire stimulation digestion and the removal of toxins, removes excess fat from around abdomen
  5. Kapalabhati (cleansing breath): cleanses sinuses and nasal passages, increases abdominal awareness, clears frontal lobes of brain
  6. Bhastrika (bellows breath): oxygenates the blood, increases circulation, alertness, creates heat in body to remove inflammation & toxins
  7. Nadi Shodhana (alternate nostril breathing): balances left/right hemispheres of brain, balances nervous system
  8. Anuloma Viloma (alternate nostril breathing with retention):  calms the mind and nervous system, creates introversion, shifts thought patterns from negative to positive

You can use the techniques from this program to relax and energize yourself and your clients either in preparation for developing a breath practice or simply to cultivate a subtle awareness for rise and fall of emotions during our life.

Movement creates stillness; stillness creates movement.
